According to press-release the show dedicated to famous Apollo theater on Harlem, known by Ellie Fitzgerald, BIllie Holiday, James Brown, Quincy Jones and many many many others. It is imagined to be the show dedicated to African-American culture from 50s and jazzy Harlem. In the atmosphere it probably was: old car, and group of youngsters playing jazz. Very cute, but let’s get to the subject – the looks.

After leaving regular calendar of fashion weeks in New York, and exciting experience with shows like TOMMYDRIVE all over the world, and the concept “See now – Buy now”, Tommy Hilfiger suddenly decided to come back to Federation in New York (CFDA) and show his collection.

Expectation of public to finally see Tommy Hilfiger back to New York exceeded all possible wonders. This show definitely could go under name “Peek-a-Boo. Where’s Tommy Hilfiger?”

Someone would expect the answer “Here he is”, but No – Tommy Hilfiger is nowhere to be found. Not a single look had “Signature” or “DNA” of the Tommy Hilfiger brand, not even a slight shadow.

He showed for Fall-Winter 2019-2020 season Italian-ish looks : classic tweeds (winner looks you couldn’t miss), flashy silver Armani-ish looking suits, classic silk shirts and dresses with polka dots (like grandma used to make), sheer snake print on everything that moves – dresses, boots, skits, shirts, suits (looks that for couple of years massively produced and sold on mass-market), and of course couple of fancy tuxedo-ish looking suits, taken from the hit of this New York Fashion Week – collection presented by Ralph Lauren couple of days ago.

If someone remembers what Tommy Hilfiger is known for and, by the way, still can see familiar looks on Tommy Hilfiger online shop, this person would identify this brand like SPORTY CHIC. Add here usual Tommy Hilfiger colors: blue, red and white, and also funky prints like flags or snow-cones. That would be the recipe. But what he showed for Spring Summer 2020 season is a recipe for disaster.
