Jean Paul Gaultier Ready-to-Wear 2021 – The Sailors Capsule Collection. RUNWAY MAGAZINE ® Collections. RUNWAY NOW / RUNWAY NEW
In an ode to collective action and tribute to the diverse communities that have inspired the House since its creation, the Jean Paul Gaultier studio invited five designers and trendsetters to participate in this rebirth of ready-towear. Five designers who embody the values of freedom, acceptance and unscrupulous creativity.
Every designers have produced a silhouette or accessory range that they feel represents the genius of Gaultier. Ottolinger has played with the iconic “marinière” stripes, distorting them and creating a zebra zigzag graphic.
Forming a cheeky pair, like a seductive 69, the artists’ logos are laid on top of the Jean Paul Gaultier insignia, emblazoned on labels, brushing upon the neck and against the skin. An act of artistic equity.
Guest Designers are Otto Linger, Palomo Spain, Marvin M’Toumo, Lecourt Mansion, Alan Grocetti.
Unveiled as a summer drop, Maison Jean Paul Gaultier is reviving its ready-to-wear through the myth of the Sailor. The design studio revisits the codes dear to the Enfant Terrible, starting with the essential sailor top or the traditional bob of the sailors of the US Navy. A unisex collection, inclusive, collective and transpiring the sea mist.
Five renowned designers were invited by the studio, to create even more outrageous and creative pieces mixing the different universes of each. Also, legendary pieces of the House, steeped in history, reappear in the middle of this limited edition collection.
