By opening Haute Couture show with white cloak (suitable for monks) with brilliant quotation on it “are clothes modern?”, by Bernard Rudofsky, and followed 14 black cloaks, Christian Dior house reached new higher level of…… only they might know what. It is indeed in the meaning of Haute Couture to present simple wrappings, “Bo-bo” Haute Couture that is. New line of black croaks and monkey-slippers were also hit of the new Haute Couture collection of Chrisitian Dior house. Couple of evening dresses were mixed and matched the monk cloaks. The collection supposes to be tribute to Agnes Varda – great French cinema producer. Wonderful and colorful lady never wore, even in her worst days black clothes. Well…. 15 pieces were about what “modern clothes”?
Let’s give to Maria Grazia Chiuri, artistic director of Christian Dior House, medal for that. And indeed creation of first Dior crocks and monkey-slippers paid off. July 2, she received Legion of Honor for her achievements.
